We have just completed our latest CD Color Magic. We
are proud of this 14 song collection. The
Teacher is
a tongue in cheek tribute to our Teacher friends. We took 9 months to
write, record and engineer this CD.
Just
the Six of Us about a Mum having sextuplets was born
on Sept 1st 2007,the release date of our CD and also the day
The Byler
Family in Tampa Florida actually gave birth to Sextuplets. What a
coincidence, and what a privilege. Over the past 25 years, we have written 400 songs and are prouder of the 14 songs on Color Magic than any others we have ever written. Each song is a tribute to some aspect of Family life. We had so much fun writing the songs, and spent so much time laughing in the studio, it's a wonder the Album was ever finished. Mr. Sackett the Sock Man is classic goofy Mr. Tim. Ms. Laura's beautiful voice shines on the "bring me to tears" Little Mister and tantalizes on the gravelly Hamburger Blues The Battersby Duo is about Education. We are about helping Boys and Girls fulfill their dreams and aspirations through responsible Parenting and diligent instruction. Modern Girl is a dedication to all young Ladies who dream of becoming Barbara Morgan, a Teacher and Astronaut, who not only flies with her mind, but also flew to the Stars. Color Magic is a peaceful collection for the young at heart. Please help us reach our 25000 sales goal so that we can convince "NP's" by the power of provable sales figures, that Kid's music can be cool and fun, and does not have to be tacky and inappropriate. "Write On." Barry Write |

The Library Verse 1. I'm a library and I see, so many people who love to read. I'm a library and I see, Mom and Dad and all the Family. Verse 2. Mysteries biographies and novels fill my walls; I have so many books; my shelves are ten feet tall. And I have books on just about every subject known to man; And magazines on traveling to far off distant lands. Chorus And I love to see the boys and girls read the books upon my shelves; And I love to see them open up their eyes. And say to me, "We have read, every book upon your shelf; And every story in your library." Verse 3. And I am found in any town across the USA. And people love to come to me, every single day. They travel far, they travel wide, just to see the way I look. And I am happy and I am glad, when they borrow all my books. Chorus And I love to see the boys and girls read the books upon my shelves; And I love to see them open up their eyes. And say to me, "We have read, every book upon your shelf; And every story in your library." And say to me, "We have read, every book upon your shelf; And every story in your library."

The Bedtime Bug I’m fighting the fight; I know that I am right. What I do know is my Kids should have a bedtime. I’ve traveled far and wide, and I know that I am tired Of them staying up ‘til midnight when they know it should be nine
All you see in the morning are the bags beneath our eyes My brain made dull by lack of sleep made me realize That when I hit the bed at one to try to get some sleep Our Kids are up and I’m still counting sheep
I’m walking down the lane I know I’ll see this road again, I love my Kids but they don’t seem to get it One day we’ll get it right, the Kids’ll sleep right through the night And we will have some sanity again.
I asked Grandma the other day if she had ever had to say, The time is late, now you must go to bed She laughed at me and turned her head, she frightened me by what she said, My face turned green and then a shade of red…
I realized I’m just the same; All Kids play the bedtime game They stay up all night long if they can Dad and Mum will overcome and the bedtime fight will soon be won And we will have our sanity again.
I’m walking down the lane I know I’ll see this road again, I’ve seen it in so many dreams before Children they are laughing in the open shuttered windows of my mind And I’ll see them again.. Children they are playing in the open shuttered windows of my mind And I’ll see them again..

Just the Six of Us
Well I woke up this morning I had to laugh I had this terrible urge to take a bath I’ve been kicking and turning, giving my Mom a fit I can’t wait to be born in a month 3 days and a bit
Nine months is a long time to hang out in here It’s safe and it’s warm and I’m fine I got a bad old itch just the other day Scratched my foot and found it wasn’t mine
So I turned to my knee on the other side And much to my surprise I saw a thigh and an eye staring at me And 6 more trying to hide
So I said to myself, I’m not sure I’m alone There’s an awful lot of limbs in here I found a brother and sister and a sister and a brother And another brother lying on his side
Well we woke up this morning we all had to laugh We got a jungle gym going on a tumbling mat We’ve been jumping and turning, giving my Mom a fit We can’t wait to be born in a month 3 days and a bit
There are a bunch of us here in a room built for one The tummy was full to the brim But we played and we sang and we learned how to hum And we got to know our dad and our Mum
I’ll never forget the day that they found There were six of us living in here My Grandparents swooned as they flew to the moon And my Daddy fell down on the ground
Well we woke up this morning we all had to laugh We got a jungle gym going on a tumbling mat We’ve been jumping and turning, giving my Mom a fit We can’t wait to be born in a month 3 days and a bit

Little Mister
Verse 1Can you see me my Baby You are the light of my life Your beautiful eyes and the way that you smile Show me what love is like.
Verse 2 Your eyes are so blue and your smile so bright You light up my day as it turns into night Your sweet little hands reach out to mine And I’ll love you forever, as I love you tonight
Verse 3 And I’ll watch you grow strong, and I’ll watch you grow tall; And I’ll see you succeed, be there when you fall I’ll hold on to your hand when you’re feeling so low (down) And see you stand proud as your mind starts to grow (Watch that sweet smile turn from a frown)
Verse 4 Can you see me my Baby You are the light of my life Your beautiful eyes and the way that you smile Show me what love is like Your beautiful eyes and the way that you smile Show me what love is like

Winter in Moscow Winter in Moscow is a very cold thing, Astrally speaking I projected in a dream’ And I found it kind of hard, to project myself back; But I didn’t mind, I was hopelessly lost.
Speaking a language I had heard but didn’t know, I found that my tongue was incredibly slow; My hands did the talking, and we got on fine, In downtown Vienna where the sun it did shine.
We sat in a Hotel drinking Coffee and Tea, The waiter had six eyes and studied Tai Chi; But I as a stranger could not think it odd, Maybe it helps in his line of work.
So we traveled to Paris, and went to Montmartre, Near the boulevard St Michel, And when we were tired we slept by the Seine, But woke up in our bed again
Walking down Main Street surrounded by a Crowd I found that the people were incredibly nice, And I think I’ve found the answer to eternal life: Go for what you’re going for, and don’t you think twice
So we traveled to Paris, and went to the Louvre, In the boulevard St Michel, And when we were tired we slept by the Seine, But woke up in our bed again Yeah woke up in our bed again |

Mr. Sackett the Sock Man Verse 1 My name is Mr. Sackett I’m the sock man I’m hired by your Mom and Dad you see My desire, is to make your house smell free By removing your Brothers socks that are so yucky
Worn for weeks his socks were slightly smelly A subtle blend of cheddar and of Brie Every toe was as pure as driven snow But his socks were at an all time low
The purple socks were slightly less offensive The green ones had a little tinge of mold His gray socks used to be a shade of orange While his black ones were just unbelievably old
His Parents tried to sell his socks on E Bay Sockists were interested in the sale The bidding was intense but finally it failed Cause The Postman wouldn’t sanitize the mail E Bay was outraged decided to turn the page And never let a brother’s sock take center stage
The purple socks were slightly less offensive The green ones had a little tinge of mold His gray socks used to be a shade of orange While his black ones were just unbelievably old The moral to this tale is quite appealing Socks are just like kids they all have feelings |

Summer in New York. I've seen young men, now taller than me; First Year College in the land of the free. They say,"Hey Man, you’ve been a big part of me. I remember Fire and Rain, in the summer of 83."
I've seen young Girls, who back in 83 showing signs of wisdom, And singing Stand by Me. They were doing the Locomotion, They lined up one by one. Little did they know, that their journey had begun?
They were dancing in the aisles singing twist and shout.. Cats in the cradle was the anthem that rang out. And songs like Pretty Woman, were the flavor of the day, With Do Wah Diddy Diddy, we sang the night away....
We sang to Kids in Kalamazoo, we told them of our lives. From New York to Chicago we rode a giant tide. And we sang to girls with chestnut curls and boys in faded jeans. And we were celebrating, what life is meant to be.

Waiting in LineVerse 1Woke up this morning, feeling kind of blue. Scratched my head got out of bed, didn’t know what to do. Took a chance, looked out my door, quiet as a mouse, Headed fast down the hall, to the smallest room in the house.
Chorus: Imagine my surprise, couldn’t believe my eyes The Bathroom queue was a hundred miles I’m at the end of the line. I’m at the end of the line I’m at the end of the line
Verse 2My sister Jill she needs to chill, she seems to love my pain; She spends an hour every day driving me insane My older Bro, he has a fro, it takes forever to dry All I want is to brush my teeth, but all I do is cry
Chorus: Imagine my surprise, couldn’t believe my eyes The Bathroom queue was a hundred miles I’m at the end of the line. I’m at the end of the line I’m at the end of the line
Verse 3Woke up this morning, feeling pretty cool My plan in place so I could wash my face, before I go to school. My brother and sister they are sleeping well, the time is quarter to four I head on down the hallway, walk through the bathroom door.
Chorus:Imagine my surprise, I couldn’t believe my eyes My Dad was standing in the bathroom doorway Hands on his hips and a smile on his face He said………..It’s Saturday No School today. go back to bed it’s Saturday

Pop Culture How can I take it seriously? When I’m laughing so hard inside; Playing the game can be such a pain Minding my P’s and Q’s
Plato was right, Socrates too, Hitler was wrong all the way. Mussolini linguini, a 10-cent bikini, Are perversions in a different way?
High-rise and condos and platinum blondes, Directors who’re still in their teens. Screaming fanatics and Grandmas in attics, And a graduate doctor of tricks.
Chorus
Donald has problems besieged by his fans While Rosie continues to rail And Paris is rapidly losing her mind Reading the junk mags in jail
Plato was right, Socrates too, Hitler was wrong all the way. Mussolini linguini, a 10-cent bikini, Are perversions in a different way?
Chorus |
The Vegetable CrowdI am just a poor boy though my story’s seldom told I swam a mile down the Nile spent days in my strange mind I flew to the zoo I became a kangaroo My friend the hippopotamus and I had a pact His crocodile tears were simply an act. That’s a fact
I knew an alligator that loved to read the paper Obsessed by pithy trivia he tried to be a man His wife was somewhat jangled by the pulse of his pacemaker Discovered that his foible was a literary scam. Thank you Ma’am Break Banana sits so silently while the tangerine is loud Can you pick a lemon from a vegetable crowd? And does the right to linger apply to every sound Or is the answer buried and weighed out by the pound. That’s profound
I swam a mile down the Nile spent days in my strange mind My nights I took a flight in sight to ponder my demise Am I wrong or am I ever right? Is today really tomorrow or is yesterday tonight that’s a fright
For every question that is asked there will be more Time is just the sailboat sent to find the shore The Fisherman must mend his net, so sounds can take to flight If we condescend, then do we have the right? My friend the hippopotamus and I had a pact His crocodile tears were simply just an act. That’s a fact |
You will probably notice as you drift through the songs on Color Magic that there is a theme to our pediatric insanity. This collection deals with Family Matters. We talk about the excitement of the first day of Pre-School, (Going to Pre-School) the chaos of having to share a bathroom in a large family, (Bathroom Blues) and the happy exhaustion of Parents attempting to set and maintain Family bedtimes, (The Bedtime Bug) for their Kids. Mr. Sackett the Sock Man is a ludicrous peek into the minds of Mr. Tim and Ms Laura, while Modern Girl inspires young Ladies to follow their dreams. Hamburger Blues is a simple down and dirty blues number that celebrates what we all love...food! Just the 6 of Us was inspired by a pregnant friend of ours who thought for a time, because her tummy grew so large, that she was going to have 17 babies. Our imagination went wild, as we thought of all the babies getting to know each other in Mums Tum and using her as a jungle Gym. And so the song was born. Winter in Moscow a live concert performance, is a tribute to travel, and is the tale of us knocking around the world when we were younger!
Ms Laura’s 2nd grade Teacher, Mrs. Jean Butler, now 93 years old loves to travel. Every summer she would take off to the Himalayas or China or the North Pole, and would regale her class with stories of adventure and romance. We wrote The Teacher for all of our Faculty friends, who still have their faculties because they show their Students how to fly with their minds. The Vegetable Crowd is an odd little ditty about tolerance, understanding and inclusion, while the story of Little Mister, set in the mists of time and the hills of County Clare, lends a clear vision to that elusive thing we call love. Summer in New York pays homage to the Kids that we played to in New England in the 80’s. Those same Kids, now Parents, bring their families to our Concerts.
We hope you enjoy listening to Color Magic as much as we enjoyed making it.
